First let me tell you that I’m not a boat broker but instead the actual owner so I can answer any question about MY boat so if you are the one buying you will know what you’re getting! This boat was bought new on 07/02/92 in Port Huron, MI and directly transported to Houghton, MI which is located on the west shore of Lake Superior. The boat and trailer were stored inside until the second week of July each year when it was taken out for a yearly two week trip to Isle Royale National Park for vacation. The boat was then dry-docked back into H@Y Marina where it was again store inside, professionally winterized, and detailed until the following year.
I purchased the boat in 2003 after the passing of the original owner. I added the Lowrance 26XHD and the two Captains Pak Downriggers with Bert’s Custom Tackle removable slide mounts. The auto pilot course computer was also updated to the ST6001 series with gyro compass, display is the Auto helm ST6000. The boat had only an amazing 330hrs on it when I bought it in June, 2004. After three years I put 340hrs for a total run time of 640hrs. The twin engines run and look as brand new. The stainless steel props have no dings as this boat was never grounded! With this few hours you would expect no mechanical repairs as it has had none other than yearly maintenance. This included impeller replacement once a year and lower unit oil changes two times a year.
Cruising speed is 36mph 4200rpm with top speed of 50mph / 5400rpm. The best I can explain fuel consumption is 58 miles to Isle Royal and averaging 28 gallons of gas at cruising speed (taken from detailed written logs). The tanks hold 100 gallons in the main and 50 in the reserve. The large tanks serve a purpose as Grady White boats are quality built for long range distance and superior ability to take the roughest seas. Without a drift sock EACH engine will idle down for a trolling speed of 1.5 mph. They WILL NOT load up and will burn at a 200/1 mixture ratio at idle (per Yamaha specifications).
The Sailfish 25’ is the most popular boat for its large cabin. A vee birth sleeps two comfortably and an aft-cabin for one adult. There is a separated head with pump out capabilities and intergraded shower with a five gallon hot water heater (never used). Abundant storage compartments for all the essentials. Large ice chest with butane stove (never used), sink, and grooming mirrors are part of the cabin. A cabin table also uprights from the vee birth by removing one cushion. All cushions are in impeccable condition. OEM Grady White full outer snap cushions which are also like new. I have all original Grady manuals along with a small library of operating manuals for each piece of equipment.
Every person will look and judge something by there own scale however I can say that this boat shows a 9/10 as it was always meticulously maintained. There are some minor flaws in the blue stripping from bumper rubs however many people have said it looks new. To replace this package new WILL cost $120,000. This is fully equipped, non salt water, non southern faded/worn vessel. I rest assure you that you will not find a nicer Grady White.
