Give Tom Arlington a call.
The method was simple and easy. Casting
tubes around weeds, and smallmouth hitting
the tubes on the drop. The power of the
smallmouth is like no other fish.
Smallmouth fishing Tom says the whole family
enjoy.

If non stop fast action of schooling fish,
double headers and at times three or four fish hook ups at a time are what
you’re looking for, look no further, with a small mouth fishery that has
exploded in recent years, Lake St. Clair has gained the attention of bass
enthusiasts from throughout the continent. B.A.S.S. and other national tournament
organizations have conducted tournaments that saw a four-pound average for
fish brought to the weight in. This is truly an amazing size and can be matched
by only a handful of fisheries anywhere.
Facts documented by Michigan biologists, described the bass resource in Lake
St. Clair as “Hard to Believe”. They also confirmed the St. Clair’s already
excellent population of bass expanded further in the 1990’s due to the Zebra
Mussels infestation. Better growth rates, higher natural reproduction, and
year class recruitment has driven the expansion. Immense numbers of fish
are present in the three to four pound range with trophies in the five and
six pound class increasingly common.
We concentrated on weeds and depths of 8 to 10 feet. casting
long distances and working it slowly. Tom also will fish with minnows.
Tom stated that the bite is even more crazy with minnows.
The main motion will a slow hop near the bottom. I later switched to
smoke and flake tube with a 1/8 ounce weight and it had a slow drop and
could be seen, and if you can see the bait, you seem to notice the smallmouth
attacking it.
Give Tom a call it is hopping now. Thanks Tom!! Great time.586-337-1951
