what is everybody's favorite weapon for deer?

I use an old Ithaca deerslayer, 12guage, with smooth bore and a 3x9 Tasco scope. I can shoot a fly off a buck's back at 300 yards with that thing. Took a half rack spike at 320 yards in a cut corn field last fall with it, I was going to pass it up, but it was the only buck runnin that property last year so i took it to help get rid of the scrub genes out of there.

So what is your weapon of choice?

my old savage 22-250, 60 gr bonded bear claw bullets, the deer drop like they where struck by lightning. reloads get the bullet speed up to about 3900 fps..used the v grenades for coyotes this winter and have been very impressed..very little pelt damage

Well I have a passion for squirrel hunting and witout a doubt my ruger 22 semi auto topped with a 4x bushnell is millitary sniper accurate. I can bust busshy tails in the crotch of a 150' tree at 95 yards every time.

In da UP I use my 270. But since the DNR has ruined the deer herd here in the Upper. I now hunt south of Kalamazoo and used the most dependable gun ever made Remington 870 got it a couple years ago and it came with a 3 1/2 inch chambered shot gun barrel as well as a rifled slug barrel.

I prefer to deer and small game hunt with a hand gun. I love the fire power of my desert eagle for close up head shots of my deer. There is something to be said about watching the head evaporate.

This is my pride and joy.

Remington 30-06 BDL, could'nt live without it, I won a Ruger 270 4 years ago and have never used it hunting yet.
If I ever get another rifle it will be the 22-250 like Bigdog uses, I just tell my wife its for my son and I will be able to get it!

I too am a pistol hunter a 1st gen. Thompson Center contender chambered in 30-30 win., 14” barrel and hand loads, has taken deer at 200yrds+ and dropped them in their tracks. My choice for small game would have to be my Smith & Wesson 22A with a halo sight it will take a squirrel out of the top of the tallest tree.

Nothing more fun than my bow, Golden Eagle - Wood Limb with speed cams - tried several newer bows but this is one straight shooter. Only rifle I will hunt with is my 45 Remington throwin' 220 grains of lead at 150 yards = knock down power and hunting in a swamp that is what I love

For me to single out one weapon as my favorite would be like going to a smorgasboard and filling my plate with one item, I don't think that I can do it. In zone 3 where I live the Rem 870 12Ga. Wingmaster Mag. is a killing machine. But the Ruger 77 stainless muzzleloader is so much fun to use and can always be counted on. In the cornfields when stalking deer the S&W 629 44mag is just plain hard to beat. When I can get north a ways the custom Mauser 30-06 will always produce. So I guess that I have narrowed it down to my favorite 4, that is the best that I can do.

Ah yes - love my Mossberg - kills hogs, dogs, deer, bear whatever gets in to 100 yds or so - and at $150 bucks who can argue.

But I also love to use the Ruger Deerfield 44 magnum - not a finer carbine made - that is a mauler

Now I am gonna try out AR hunting - got an AR15 in 223 for coy dogs and squirrlels and a Bushmaster Thumper upper to switch in for hogs that is .450 Caliber

Now if the coys got to be shot sneakin across the lake whilst catchin some silver - then you need a bit of reach so the customized mauser actioned stainless steel bull barrelled 22-250 with a 24X scope will touch em so far out they don't even know you are there! Kind of like taggin terrorists in Iraq
