Thinking about heading to the west side of the state to try to get a couple of salmon for the smoker. Any one out there have any good reports or a heads up on a hot port. Would seem to me that even with the late spring throwing everything out of wack that a good bite should be happening somewhere soon. Any info will be great.
Hum, same advice I got.
Yes the fish are coming into the rivers fairly well, they are also doing rather well out on the lake still. Although the numbers do not match what they were years ago it does seem to be a pretty good year with an exceptional amount of 20 + lbers being caught. I have talked to a guy at work who managed a limit from shore. Good luck to you and if you want good advice you may want to search for a new site, people on this site don't give advice anymore.
Can anyone tell me where I can find some gravel by a bridge on the PM? I just want to hook a few salmon on my fly rod while enjoying some tastey barley pops. I hear the betsie is hitting big but do not want to drive that far.

Head downstream from m37, and you should find what you crave. keep an eye on what kinds of flies are hatching and switch thru different patterns to see what they are eating. Or you can try to aggravate them into striking as well. I usually start with an avocado green ESL(salmon usually tear up anything green.) Some other salmon flies that are in my vest include wooly buggers, green butt skunk, hex nymph, my beloved stones, springs wiggler, and defintiely don't leave home without a few variations of the bloody browneye.
does any one know if there is any luck out on the boyne river?

Does anybody know if the sammies are hittin big on the betsie below Homestead dam? i don't want to spend the gas money and make the drive if the sammies aren't in good. last year i was there and I met a cool local guy named John and he showed me how to bear claw grab some big sams right out of the river after he hooked them. It was pretty awesome.
