Fished out of Grand Haven yesterday-marine forecast was for waves 1 foot or less. The waves were actually 4-5 feet and unfishable in my 17' boat. This was my 3rd consecutive trip with an inaccurate marine forecast.That is 3 trips of 200 miles round trip each where I have not been able to fish. I also spoke to other fishermen with similiar stories. Any reccomendations?

I got to the pier this morning around 3am and started casting a 5 eye cleo. At around 3:45 I switched to an orange and green glo and had my first hit within 3 casts. I lost that one but 10 minutes later I hit a big one that tipped the scales at 14.4lbs. I ended the morning at 6am with 2 nice kings and 4 lost. I never knew holland was so good of fishing. It is alot nicer than the more busier piers. There were only a couple guys out and alot friendlier than the guys to the north.

Fished tonight 8/19 from about 6-8pm with my wife and went 1/1 (small king). Boats were scattered out deeper and I tried to cover various depths with lures also at various depths. We trolled 80fow out to about 140 and back in. Had the one fish hit in 110fow on a rigger 53ft down on mixed veggie spoon. That was it for us. Hoping to go out for longer tommorrow night and take out a couple of guys that have never been big lake fishing. Any report out of GH is much appreciated. Good luck.

Salmon fishing looked like it was happening in the harbor this morning. Looked like a three ring circus out there. Once the sun come up they spooked and it was over. We never got a bump. Their not in there like they should be, save your gas mabe next week. good luck,Bud.

Tried Whitehall for the first time Monday. Went 3 for 4 on some big Kings. Weather report was for 10-20mph winds. Never happened. Waves were 1-2ft after noon with light & variable winds, perfect. The fish had other ideas though, and it was tough going. Ended up taking a 24 lb King on a Moonshine Mongolean Beef off a full core, then later another 14 lb King on the same rig. Last fish was a 13 pound King off the rigger, down 85 in 90 FOW with a green halo Spindoctor & a cut bait rig. Lost another big King right at the boat when it ran through the rigger cable. Cut the 50 lb test lead between the squid and the Spindoctor. Took a mile and 20 minutes to land the big King. Biggest one landed from my boat in 5 years.

Fished Sunday out of St. Joe. Waves were about 6-8ft in the morning but not much wind. Difficult to get anything going. Ended up taking a nice Brown, a small King, and a 4 year old King about 18 pounds. Fish were taken on White Ghost J Plug (2) and white ladderback Lyman (1). Water temp was 72-78 degrees all the way down to 80 ft. Calmed off to 4 footers by 5pm...
