Does anyone know if the 'eyes' are still biting in the bay or do you have to go way out this time of year. A friend and I fished out of Lindwood aobut five miles out a month ago for three days and limited out every day...the last day in 1.5 hrs. Have an 18 ft runabout and don't want to go out more than 10 miles, if that far. We normally fish lake Erie in the spring. Looking for a place to fish in the fall. thnx!

Greg-I also have fell victim to the marine forecast a few times this summer. For what its worth, the only other thing that I could recommend is checking out two sites that have a web cam of GH pier: lakemichigancam.com and the Grand Haven Steelheaders website. That may help you some in viewing the current condition on the water, or at least what you can see in the picture. Good luck.

Just to let you know Lazy Larry, If you look in your fishing guide on page 6 it describes the hooks on an artifical lures and crawler harnesses as 1. Therefore if you piggy back 6 pencil plugs you would have 18 hooks but the fishing guide states that the hooks attached to the lure (3 treble hooks) count as 1 hook So you would be fishing within the legal rule of 6 hooks. READ YOUR FISHING GUIDE!!!!!!!

Scott K, I use my little 14' aluminum deep V with a 15 HP. You just have to pick your days and keep your eye on the forecast. I have to come in a little slow at times or ride the waves but boats were meant to float. I was out in 25' of water Monday morning in 3-4 foot waves. Take your time.

Thats why now when i go fishing i round up a few friends so that the cost is cheaper when ur splitting it 3-4 ways. As long as the bay is flat, better yet if the waves are 1 foot or less the bugs will always be out in full force garunteed, the bugs 98% of the time are never out if the waves are a foot or more.
